Frankly speaking, I like reading autobiographical stories, because they are based on real life stories. While reading this book I pictured myself being in such situation. I mean, I am a foreign student here and I would say that my story was a bit different from Francisco’s story. I had some difficult time with understanding English when I came to the US for the first time.
By reading this book, I thought of barriers, mainly related to language that Francisco experienced during his first year at school. Of course, not knowing a word in English and being in an English class is difficult for every child, whose native language is different. Also, I thought that Francisco was down when his teacher Ms. Scalapino turned her head right and left saying NO, and repeating English! when he was speaking Spanish to his friend.

I guess it is important for teachers to support their new students until these students would feel comfortable in class, look for other ways than simply turning their heads right and left.
Overall, this story made a great impression on me.
